Finnish Championship round 5/5 : Parolin & Hemet Racing in command!

The last round of the 2008 Finnish KZ2 championship was ran past weekend in Lahti, a city located some 100km north of Helsinki. Hemet Racing, the international racing team of Parolin’s importer in Finland, entered the weekend holding the top three positions in the championship after 4 rounds, and their title ambitions were greatly helped by the presence of Parolin works mechanic Andrea Brioni.

The weekend was to offer plenty of reasons for happiness… first of them being the overall championship standings which remained the same – marking the first ever triple championship victory for one team in the history of karting in Finland. And then there were the brilliant performances of Parolin drivers Jesse Kuusi and Olli Myohanen! Kuusi has been a podium regular all season long, but this time out he was almost unstoppable: pole position in the timed practice followed by a victory and a second place in the two races secured his third place finish in the overall standings. But it was Olli Myohanen, just in his inaugural KZ season, who thrilled the crowd by storming to the podium in race 1 from 15th on the grid, thus showing everybody his full potential. Keep your eyes on these guys in the years to come!

KARTS & BEAUTY!

Being pretty and charming is not enough to win the 2008 MISS PADANIA title, it is also necessary to show karting abilities! A nice and pleasant race, in every sense, with the PAROLIN XT40 chassis, took place last Saturday at "Pista Azzurra" track in Jesolo... and of course it was the local manufactuer company with its PAROLIN MOTORSPORT section, who was choosen for the special event!

PRI Trade show 6-8 December in Orlando, Florida

The annual motorsport exhibition, “PRI Trade Show” was held the past weekend in Orlando, Florida.
The show covers all kinds of motorsports; karts still enjoy relatively shallow input, but it’s however growing steadily year by year.
Among the seven manufacturers on display, there was also Parolin Racing Kart presented by the boss himself, Albino Parolin, together with SpeedSouth Racing and its presidents Alvaro and Monica Gerritsen. Mr. Parolin was delighted for the positive feedback that the novelties of PRK received by the visitors, among of which there were the restyled chassis with new 2008 design, brand new steering column, new brake systems for both front and rear and sporting the updated Parolin logo!

Greek Championship for Parolin two years running

For the second time, the young Greek driver Filippos Kalesis wins the 2007 National Championship in the mini category.

But this is not his only success!!!

In the same category he doubles his victories taking the podium at the South East European Karting zone Championship: a CIK International event with 4 rounds taking place in Greece, Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria and with drivers from all South East European Countries.

ROTAX MAX BELGIUM CHAMPIONSHIP

After six rounds, SFP Parolin team wins the 2007 Belgium Championship Rotax Max!

It's Michael Cool who accumulated the best results and run up a series of success. At the first race in Genk, he won both heats while at the second round in Mariembourg, he had some electrical problems in qualifing, started last on the grid and became 11th in the first heat. After solution of those problems, he finished 4th in the second heat.
In Francorchamps he won again both heats and at the fourth race in Genk he finished 3th and 4th.
The fifth race in Francorchamps, once again he won both heats while his teammate Jonathan Knevels finished second in the final heat and took very important points away from Michael's biggest rival.
Up to Mariembourg, very well prepared and having enough with one top five place to get the Championship, Michael stayed "cool" and finished second, sure of the title.
In the final heat, Michael had to start on the outside... he lost a place, coming out third of the first corner. After loosing some time behind the second driver, he overtook him with a brillant move and closing the gap from the leader. He also made the quickest lap of the race and proved the Parolin SFP is the winning combination this year in the Rotax Max category!
The teammates Filip Vandendael and Mathias Detige were 4th and 5th, while Jonathan Knevels was struggeling with tyre problems and finished 10th in the final heat.

Next target is the European Max Race in Genk.
Hopefully they will confirm their good results from the Belgium Championship and bring Parolins to the front lines.
The SFP team, mechanics and drivers thank Albino and the whole Parolin crew for their special efforts.

Favaro Simone

KZ1 World Cup & KF European Championship finals in Sarno (I) 1-2. September

Alongside the KF1 world championship, the other highlight of the international racing season was held last weekend in Sarno, located in southern Italy near the town of Naples. On the track were both KZ1, in which Parolin Racing Kart was presented by Aki Rask, and the juniors in KF3 category, with PRK presented by Simone Favaro. Despite the high hopes that our team had for the weekend, it turned out more like a pancake…

Simone was the fastest man on the track all through the Friday testing, but didn’t get it going that right as the racing started. Yet qualifying well on 9th position, a mere tenth of a second off the pole, the luck wasn’t much on his side ever since. Been crashed out by others in 2 of his heats, he was sent down to 22nd row for the pre-final. Even with a broken reed valve, he managed to finish 11th. The hopes for better then vanished in a fraction of time after the lights switched off for the final; a mass crash in the second corner of the first lap not only sent him back to very last place, but also bent the chassis, and at the end of the day Simone finished 21st in his very first European championship finals.

Much happier wasn’t the weekend for Aki either. After extremely difficult Friday, he got himself going a bit better when the official stopwatch came around, qualifying 25th in the 50 driver strong field. Steadily improving, he finished 11th in the first heat, but was then practically devastated, by a driver not-to-be-named-here, after the start of the 2nd qualifying heat. This both sent him to the second chance heat instead of comfortably qualifying for the Sunday finals, and destroyed the chassis as well. These two things combined with today’s regulation of 1 chassis only (using the other one will get the driver penalized by 10 seconds) didn’t promise too much of chances of going through by finishing in top-6, and so it didn’t happen either. After a superb start Aki had no chances, and soon found himself far down the order and then retiring the race.

The minds of everybody involved are empty and the disappointment is huge right now, but just wait and watch, and you’ll see PRK bouncing back bigger, better and faster in 2008!

European qualification – Central Zone

Sosnova (CZ) 13-14-15 July 2007

Favaro aspires to conquer the European Championship

Thanks to their tenacy Simone Favaro and Parolin Motorsport got the qualification to the European Championship.

The week end in Sosnova began with some problems for Parolin Motorsport: the Czech circuit was completely new for the young pilot and the team, who had first to know it and reach the correct chassis set up.
On Friday free qualifications, Favaro was actually more concentrated in studying the circuit than on cronos.
On Saturday, the great work of the Parolin team allowed to get a performing kart and Favaro showed all his willpower in manches doing faboulous starts and overtakings, conquering therefore the 11th position in the starting grid.
In Final One he gained immediately some positions, following the lead group after a furious recovery and closing the race in 5th position.
As the goal was of course to win and having the consciouness of a competitive chassis, he started confident in his one abilities, sure to have the European qualification in his hands.
After the first lap he was just behind Beretta; the victory seemed to be in the his pocket, but a problem on the engine compromised the final race.
Leaving the Czech Republic with a sort of bad taste in its mouth, Parolin Motorsport is looking to Sarno's appointment to take its return match.....
