WSK International series round 5 Lonato (I) 30.6.-1.7.

Our boys were back in the action last weekend for the last round of the WSK international series in Lonato, near the Lake Garda in North Italy, just some 100k’s away from the Parolin factory. Record breaking heat wave in southern Europe made all three days of driving a sweaty business for everyone involved, and the tent was literally closer to a melting pot!
Compared to last round a month ago, we had taken a long leap ahead especially in KZ2. In KF3 it would be pretty much impossible because this little speedster named Simone Favaro has been a constant frontrunner since day 1 of his KF3 career which started just back in March. It was business as usual this time too, with Simone scoring 2nd and 3rd in final 1 and final 2 respectively, and 6th in the championship final classification.
In KZ2 a good bunch of some of the best drivers in the world entered this last round, such as Piccini, Thonon, Fore, Kozlinski and Vasiliauskas to mention a few. A month ago our guys Federico Friendly-Freddie d’Amico and Aki Rask were ages off the pace, but now they were both well in the business. Aki scored twice 6th, and Federico 11th and 12th in two finals. Aki showed some great starts all weekend and was running top-3 in both finals, but against drivers such caliper as those mentioned, being just less than a tenth off the pace means no champagne after 25 laps of racing. Federico keeps improving race by race and already coped well indeed head-to-head against “big boys”.
It is now two months time left to the KZ1 world cup in Sarno (I), and all signs are showing that by then, we’ll be ready to shake the top of the standings!

What a surprise at the Championkart Series!

The 6th  round of the Championkart series brought all of our pilots to the Rioveggio's tortuos track, a very hot day of race but rich in satisfaction most of all for the Arrow team.
The mini class had the  pleasure to have as a guest at her debut in an ufficial race, a little girl  with a very special surname according to “motor lovers”.
Directly from the cheerful and very famous Tavullia, followed by dad Graziano, the blond  little child  Clara ROSSI debuted in the kart world on the Emilian track, showing a tranquillity all the day long worthy of her older brother.
In the senior class the uncontested master had the name of Daniele Ballarini (Arrow team) with one pole and two victories therefore allonging its general place list.
After  some incomprehension in the formation lap that  brought a spectacular coming out but without any consequence, the junior category saw in Sabina Raviglione (Arrow Team) the pilot to beat in this week end.
In the mini category, with our special guest, it was the young driver Filippo Laghi who won the two races.

First Parolin Motorsport Endurance 2007

On Sunday 17th June, Jesolo track “Pista Azzurra” hosted its first Parolin Motorsport Endurance round. A very hot day that reunited, also this year, a good number of participants, all ready to engage a battle on the famous and tricky Veneto track.
The teams fought one against the other one on a physical and technical challenge as, the high temperature of the day tested their pilot's resistance.
The race was regular and without any incident all the eight hours during, it was dominated  by Old Foxes team lead by Christian Ghedina.
Despite the high warm influenced the performance of all drivers, Christian Ghedina imposed a great rhythm to the race together with his team.
We do not forget the great spirit of partecipation of  Fiorese S.p.a. team which helped us to make this funny Sunday still more agreeble with its food and drinks for all pilots.

We will remember you the second Parolin Motorsport Endurance round on 21th  October 2007.

Finnish Championship round 2 : Parolin coastes on!

Last weekend, 9-10. June, the second round of the 2007 Finnish championship was held in Joensuu, Eastern Finland, about 400 km north from Helsinki. JR Hemet Racing Team, the Finnish importer of Parolin products, was especially well presented in ICC with 8 drivers entering the race. And like it’s been all season, there was no stopping them this time either. Aki Rask, Parolin works driver, raced first time back at home soil since more than 2 years, and did with style, easily winning both finals. Parolin ace Jesse Kuusi scored podium in both finals as well. Usage of various engines – TM and Debei, and various chassis models – Invader, Monza and Le Mans – is a good sign that… our stuff just simply works!

WSK International Series round 4. Salbris (F) 2-3.6: A bumby ride!

Last weekend Parolin Racing’s super charged team truck headed to sunny France for a 4th round of the international WSK series. There were little changes in the driver line-up; Aki Rask, who missed last round due to a broken finger, had switched to KZ2 category after cancellation of the KF1 from the entire championship and the Belgian Michael Cool was having another race in Belgium meantime. Federico “Friendly Freddy” D’Amico joined the Finn in KZ2, Mario Schettino did the business in KF2 and Simone Favaro in KF3.
The weekend was not to become very successful results wise, even though some great performances our drivers did deliver. Simone Favaro had too much of a “coming and going” in the heats thus starting way back 13th for the final 1. Showing a truck load of great moves and pace, he finished the race in 6th position. In the second final he moved up to 4th straight away but was then spinned out the race the very first lap. Dropping far away back, he fought back like a man to post the fastest lap of the race and finish 12th. However, sad that a good bunch of important championship points were lost. He now holds 8th position in the points standing.
In KF2 Mario Schettino had a “be-out-of-luck” weekend. Being involved in some unfortunate accidents through the heats, he had to participate in the second chance heat. He fought till the very last meters; just one tenth of a second separated him from 6th and last qualifying position and made him finish 8th, thus having to watch the finals from the spectator’s point of view.
In KZ2 Aki, last year’s 15th in the KZ1 World Cup, had his first outing after a 3 month injury break. 9 months off the gearbox action showed off, and he managed to find his expected form just for the second final, where he, starting very last on the grid, made his way up to 10th position. “In Lonato it will be whole another business…” said the Finn after the race. Also Federico encountered major problems; in particular with the parc-fermé tires. Being 4th quickest in the morning practice didn’t mean much when race tires were mounted on. He was nearly a second slower in qualifying, even now that the track was in faster condition. Having then to fight in “mid-pack war” all races long, he posted a disappointing 14th in final 1 and DNF in final 2.
Now it’s all about analyzing the mistakes and problems added with little luck and the tide will turn!

Simone Favaro: a cunning fellow, a tough driver!

Among the large number of drivers in his KF3 class, once again Simone Favaro distinguishes himself at the very first qualifying heats. This time it's at the Italian Open Master in Jesolo, Pista Azzurra, in May 18th and 19th. Never mind if on Final 2 on Sunday 20th, at the third corner he collides and exits.... as at Final 1 he starts at the external side of the first line loosing 7 positions but moving up and catching the first ones.

WSK International Series 11-13.5 in Muro Leccese

Boisterous comeback this past week end in Muro Leccese for the KF3 driver Simone Favaro, starting in 4th position at race 1 and exiting soon because of an unlucky accident. Having to start 28th at race 2, he did a resounding recovery showing all his ability and the performing alliance between the Parolin chassis and the XTR engine.

If already at his very first race in KZ2 in Sarno, the Italian Federico D'Amico turned out to be a capable driver, he reconfirmed his skilful in Spain and back to Italy at the 3rd round of the WSK. The very satisfying qulifying heats but also the unhappy running into a Maranello kart during race 1 gave him the 12th position at the race 2 starting grid. What led his 8th final classment? Definitely the new Eurostar steering column with the adjustable Ackermann handed a lighter driving and a much more precise steering, and the extra long 125mm hubs aided the rear-wheel drive of his gearbox equipped chassis.

Parolin wins the Rotax Max Baltic Cup

The first round of Rotax Max Baltic Cup was held in Šiauliai, Lithuania. There were 24 entries from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Art kart team from Lithuania also took part in this competition. Team driver Paulius Macevičius dominated the whole weekend. He took pole position. Paulius won the first race with a big gap from his rivals. In the middle of the second race Paulius got beaten off the track by his oponent, but soon regained position and finished in the second place. That let him take win in the first round. The driver and the team were happy with their performance and hope to repeat their result in the second round of the Baltic Cup.

Finnish season opener 28-29.4: Easy as A-B-C…

…or should we say more descriptively simple as 1-2-3? Because those were the positions the “JR Hemet Team”, the importer for Parolin Racing in Finland, conquered in the ICC category, and did so in the biggest race of the season with 252 drivers having entered the event (yes, out of 5 million population that is impressive! J) In the podium shot you see the winner Oskari Kurki-Suonio; just 14 years old, racing his second race ever in ICC … what will this young man achieve in the future?! Standing on the second highest step is Mikko Laine, who is racing (and doing so fine) also in the Rotax Max Senior challenge, a newcomer as well in gearbox racing. Bronze man is the old warhorse Mika Volotinen, having massive FA and FSA experience under his belt from the late 90’s onwards. JR Hemet drivers used both TM and Debei engines… which both were more than enough to leave the competition watching the rear bumpers of the Parolins’!
